2D strain analysis of deformed square grid

Hello all,

Does anyone here have experience with 2D strain (shear strain and stretch) analysis from deformed square (initially) grids with the help of imageJ?

I am attaching one photo to make my question more clear.



The photograph (approx 65mm X 37 mm) shows a deformed polymer plate. The grids, which are deformed now, were initially square. They were drawn over the surface by a marker pen. I also have the initial image.

The final output I want are two diagrams with contours of shear strain and strecth (ratio of horozontal vs. vertical line of each grid).
