3D surface noise and topology

Michael Doube
Hi all

My Connectivity plugin (http://doube.org/plugins.html#euler) works out
the Euler characteristic of 3D binary stacks and calculates trabecular
number, or the number of struts per unit volume.  It is very sensitive
to surface noise as a few noisy voxels that create a handle (a
topological hole) will be counted as a strut.  In general, the real
structures are at least 5-10x the size of the noise.

Fiji has nice 3D erode and dilate plugins.  Is there anything else that
might help remove this annoying surface noise? And where can I get 3D
erode and dilate plugins so I can install them in my stock ImageJ?
