Discovery Science supports innovative medicine project teams from multifunctional capability centers in Alderley Park, Boston and Mölndal. Discovery Sciences is mainly involved in early lead generation through the late Lead optimization stage of drug discovery. It is composed of several capabilities where Reagent and Assay Development (RAD) is one among several others such as Screening Sciences and Structure & Biophysics. This position will be placed in the RAD Department where we focus on delivering different types of reagents and assays for high impact into the drug development. * *The role* This role applies to a analyst and technical specialist in the area of cell based imaging that have extensive experience of transforming cellular imaging data to quantified high quality results. *Tasks:* · To make data analysis and conversion of screening data to biological parameters and understanding · To use and develop imaging-based assays for high content analysis of cells. · To use and develop image analysis tools (using different imaging platforms, programs, script writing) for quantification of cells or sub-cellular components in a biologically and statistically relevant manner. · To handle and process generated data and present results. · To provide user support in high content imaging activities in the lab. · To develop cellular assays that qualitatively and quantitatively assess functionality or expression patterns of genes or proteins. *Education: * You should have a Ph.D. degree or corresponding experience in a relevant scientific discipline with several years of relevant experience in of data analysis and conversion of screening data to biological parameters for quantifying and understanding of the results. *Experience and Competence: * • Extensive expertise in using and developing high content imaging microscopy methods/assays for label- or label-free characterization of cells. • Extensive expertise in using and developing qualitative and quantitative image-based cellular assays and analysis methods suitable for drug screening. • Extensive experience in culturing and functional characterization of cells • Experience of drug discovery and cell deliverables in an industrial setting are advantages • Expertise in cell-based assay design including knowledge of detection technologies, including spectroscopic (e.g. absorbance, fluorescence modalities), luminescent and label-free detection • Practical understanding of assay optimisation, including statistical tools such as factorial experimental design, to enable generation of robust, reproducible and sensitive assays • Understanding of data analysis and conversion of screening data to biological parameters *Other qualifications and skills: * In this role you should have understanding of how the drug discovery process functions within discovery. You should be able to understand how the different disciplines contribute to the discovery projects.
