Mölndal. Discovery Sciences is mainly involved in early lead generation
through the late Lead optimization stage of drug discovery. It is composed
of several capabilities where Reagent and Assay Development (RAD) is one
among several others such as Screening Sciences and Structure & Biophysics.
This position will be placed in the RAD Department where we focus on
delivering different types of reagents and assays for high impact into the
drug development. *

*The role*

This role applies to a analyst and technical specialist in the area of cell
based imaging that have extensive experience of transforming cellular
imaging data to quantified high quality results.

*Tasks:*

·       To make data analysis and conversion of screening data to
biological parameters and understanding

·       To use and develop imaging-based assays for high content analysis
of cells.

·       To use and develop image analysis tools (using different imaging
platforms, programs, script writing) for quantification of cells or
sub-cellular components in a biologically and statistically relevant manner.

·       To handle and process generated data and present results.

·       To provide user support in high content imaging activities in the
lab.

·       To develop cellular assays that qualitatively and quantitatively
assess functionality or expression patterns of genes or proteins.

*Education:  *

You should have a Ph.D. degree or corresponding experience in a relevant
scientific discipline with several years of relevant experience in of data
analysis and conversion of screening data to biological parameters for
quantifying and understanding of the results.

*Experience and Competence: *

•   Extensive expertise in using and developing high content imaging
microscopy methods/assays for label- or label-free characterization of
cells.

•   Extensive expertise in using and developing qualitative and
quantitative image-based cellular assays and analysis methods suitable for
drug screening.

•   Extensive experience in culturing and functional characterization of
cells

•   Experience of drug discovery and cell deliverables in an industrial
setting are advantages

•   Expertise in cell-based assay design including knowledge of detection
technologies, including spectroscopic (e.g. absorbance, fluorescence
modalities), luminescent and label-free detection

•   Practical understanding of assay optimisation, including statistical
tools such as factorial experimental design, to enable generation of
robust, reproducible and sensitive assays

•   Understanding of data analysis and conversion of screening data to
biological parameters

*Other qualifications and skills: *

In this role you should have understanding of how the drug discovery
process functions within discovery. You should be able to understand how
the different disciplines contribute to the discovery projects. You also
