Application of Image J in Exhaust industry (Port Elizabeth, South Africa)

Dowd, Marchell
We are using the measuring software to measure what we call "macros"
(sections of welding seams from the exhaust assemblies). We are happy with
the results that we are getting, but we need to draw parallel and
perpendicular lines as guides for the distances and angles that we want to
measure.

On some of the microscope specific measuring software that is available on
the market there is an option where you can draw parallel lines by clicking
on the origin and the software automatically draws a parallel line, at the
seam of the material that you are measuring, to the origin and measures the
distance between the two lines automatically (displays it immediately in a
text box at the point of measure).

Is this possible with the Image J software?  Which options do I use?

Is it possible to draw a perpendicular line to a specific point without
having to have a steady hand to draw a line at exactly 90° i.e. with the
angle option.  Is it possible to draw a base line and then specify (type in
30, 45, 60 or 90°) at a particular point then the software will
automatically draw a line at the angle specified (lock the parameter).

Can somebody please advise us on how to achieve the above.

Kind regards
