Bio-Format Importers in Fiji

Hello Fiji users,

Have you ever experienced much longer time to import a 4d stack by using the Bio-Format Importers in Fiji? I happened to find it will take longer time when I selected "Use virtual stack" on the options. And compared to Imagej, Fiji needs about 80-90 sec to open a 997MB xyzt stack while ImageJ only needs about less than 5 sec by using virtual stack. Strangly, both the speed will be almost the same around 10-15 sec if I did not use virtual stack to open a 4d stack. Any idea?

Thanks in advance!

Best,

chin

In the Edit > Options > ImageJ2 menu, is the option "Enable ImageJ2 data
structures" checked?

If so, does the problem go away if you uncheck it?

Curtis

Hi Curtis,

Thanks for your hint!

After unchecking the option you mentioned, the speed to open 4d stacks is greatly improved. I don't know what that means, though, the Fiji will ask whether we allow the ImageJ2 menu checked after the first installment. But it did even a little bit faster than that of Imagej.
