Calculate Ratio of Black to White in Image

Fent, Lee
I’m trying to get familiar with ImageJ and need to determine a process to convert a color image to binary then measure the ratio of black to white.  Unfortunately I’m not particularly familiar with the terminology, so I’m having trouble finding the right search terms.

Can anyone point me in the right direction (or tell me if there is a handy term for what I’m trying to accomplish)?

Thanks
Lee

Hi-
There are probably many ways to do this.  One way is to go to the Analyze
menu, then Histogram.  In the popup window that appears, select "list".
Good luck,
R

It's a short tutorial from Chris Liner.

You can threshold in many different ways. Much depends on your specific problem.

best wishes!
