Canola roots - ImageJ expert help required - co-authorship or paid

David Luckett
I have multiple scanned images of washed canola (Brassica napus, rapeseed)
roots that I need to analyze and quantify.
The roots come from the first of several experiments conducted in a
glasshouse.
The images are all about 30 Mb size in TIFF grey-scale format.
I want to batch-process these images (once a suitable macro procedure is
developed).
The data collected will be statistically analyzed in R.

I am offering scientific co-authorship to an ImageJ expert who can write
suitable code, or I am willing to pay for the service.
I would need the code for future use.

I am interested in quantifying: total root length, and branch length (in
various size classes).
I expect that the steps will involve: despeckle, solarise, skeletonise,
"junction" identification, "tip" identification, and length calculations.
Root width data would be a bonus.

I have some example JPEG images that I can email to demonstrate the task.
