Characterisation of cell growing processes

Hi everybody,
I want to analyse z stacks containing a cell which is growing and shrinking processes. It is of particular interesst in which direction they are growing, how fast and some other paramters if possible.  Do you have any suggestions which plugins / macros are suitable for my purpose ?
