Collision course of Sydney Harbour catamaran ferry and pleasure cruiser plotted from nighttime video recordings

Greg Joss
The following URL links to a Google website which attempts to document
analysis of nighttime video recordings used to plot the time course of a
catamaran ferry and a pleasure cruiser which collided just East of the
Sydney Harbour Bridge.
It is technically an interesting application of ImageJ and Google Earth and
potentially legally significant (four people on the pleasure craft died in
the incident).

The site gives access to a QuickTime movie showing a screen replay of the
ImageJ analysis run '97secs_from_Wharf5.mov'. It is best viewed on a higher
resolution screen as it is 1915 x 1176 pixels to allow resolution of
sufficient detail. It runs at twice realtime speed. Use View>Fit to Screen
or Full Screen Mode.)

The analysis was not presented to the Coroner's Court and has not yet been
reviewed or criticised by a competent peer or collaborator.
I would appreciate any comments, criticisms, suggestions or questions from
my peers in the image analysis community.
