Determining cell area

Sarwar, Rizwan
Hi

We are growing primary cultures of rat ventricular myocytes. After the
experiment, we want to determine the area of the myocytes, and I am
currently doing this by drawing around each cell with my mouse on
ImageJ, and measuring the area (Ctrl+M). Is there a more efficient way
to do this do this that will:

(1)      allow me to select each cell individually (because this is a
primary culture, there are other cell types, and I am excluding all
"spindly" shaped cells)

(2)      give me the area for each individual cell to calculate means,
etc.

Thanks

Rizwan

Hi,
You can try the "Yawi 2D" plugin http://yawi3d.sourceforge.net/), which
provides a enhanced version of magic wand for ImageJ. Read "INSTALL.txt"
for instruction and "CHANGELOG.txt" for feature list.
