Did anyone know how to use ImageJ to count leaf trichome?

Hello,
I am now counting the trichomes on leaf. I took the picture of the leaf using microscrope and have thousands of leaves to count.
I am new to use ImageJ to get the trichomes on the leaf. Since the contrast of the trichome and the leaf background is small and the trichomes are always branch shaped(not in a circle), I cann't set some correct parameters to get all the trichomes counted. So is there anyone can help me solve the problem.
