Distance map

Dear list members,
I am analysing an image of cracked soil. I need to calculate the distance
between the cracks, in other words the spacing of cracks. How can i
calculate the distance from a distance map image, i am quite new to image
analysis.

You might be able to use the neuronJ plugin and treat the cracks as
'axons and dendrites'
