Does 3D Viewer accept other format than Stack of images

Hi,
I am wondering if any one could say me if 3D viewer can load and handle (visualization, triangulation, etc..) files containing only XYZ cordiantes of scee. If so, I can not find how and it seems to me strange that 3D viewer can only handle stack of images !
