EM segmentation challenge (ISBI - 2012)

Dear all,

We are happy to announce the first challenge on EM
(machine-learning-based) segmentation, as part of a workshop previous
to the ISBI 2012 conference, in May 2012 in Barcelona, Spain. Please

The challenge is open to everybody, the only requirement is to
register in the server to have a user name and password to be able to
download the training and test datasets, and upload your results.

The relevant dates are:

* Deadline for submitting results: February 1st, 2012
* Notification of the evaluation: February 21st, 2012
* Deadline for submitting abstracts: March 1st, 2012
* Notification of acceptance/presentation type: March 15th, 2012

We understand that segmentation evaluation is an ongoing and sensitive
research topic, therefore we open the metrics to discussion. A
decision on the final metric (the one which will determine the
challenge winner) will be made public on December 1st, 2011. Please,
do not hesitate to contact me or any of the other organizers to
discuss about the metric selection. Very soon we'll start a forum
where everybody can post comments, suggestions and questions regarding
the challenge.
