Edge Finding Analysis

GAUTAM SHANKAR
Hello,

I have taken a picture of a section of a column.    |   | |   |     <-- so
the middle part is the column and the rest is the edge of the image itself.

Hopefully you understood that little diagram. After using the built in "Find
Edges" feature. It is apparent to the human eye where the edge is (not that
it wasn't in the original image).
Also let's assume I used the gray scale filter.

I want to view a histogram that shows me the color distribution horizontally
for the image. So where the color levels for "white" would peak.. would be
where the edge of the column would be.

Is there such a plugin?

If not, what would be the easiest way to develop, do I modify the existing
imageJ histogram or make a new one? can you point me towards a
document/resource that would help me begin to develop?

Thanks

Hi,

Make a line selection across your image and choose the Analyze/Plot Profile
menu entry.

Jerome.
