Edit->Draw vs. Image->Overlay->Add Selection...

When does it make sense to use Edit->Draw to convert a selection to an outline?

I know Image->Overlay->Add Selection...converts selections to overlays in a non-destructive way; plus overlays can be converted back to selections.
