Error on display

Dear ImageJ users/developers

 

I have had this problem for several months and have not been able to solve
it.

When I run ImageJ and open images the display get corrupted as you can see
from the examples below.

I've searched the list for #display errors" and did not find anything
similar.

I am running windows7 64bit and a Nvidia Geforce Go6150 on an HP laptop.

Notice that icons on tool bar are "compressed"! If I switch the display to
16bit in the control panel the tools display normally however the opened
images still display with the same errors. The type of error changes with
zoom-in and zoom-outs!

I ignored this for a while thinking the problem is with my laptop/drivers,
however, after teaching an ImageJ class a few weeks ago a realized that
several of my students were having the same problem on their computers!

Anyone else has seen this? Any solutions? I've tried all versions to no
avail.

Curiously, the Fiji version of ImageJ does not show the error as frequently
(actually rarely; for example the "clown" and "about imageJ" open fine, but
the "HelCells" shows same display error),which leads me to believe the
problem may be related to Java.
