Excluding overexposured pixel from auto thresholding

Dear ImageJ colleagues,


Is there any way to exclude some pixels with over-exposed (for example, any pixel greater than 4000 for 12-bit camera) before applying OTSU autothresholding?  Any suggestion is highly appreciated.

I tried to avoid using create selection and then restore selection, but if it is the only method, I think I will have to use it.

Yes, there is.
Convert the range of values that you do not want included in the computation
to either white or black, and see "Ignore black" and "Ignore white" in the
original version of the the autothreshold plugin:
