Extract speed of an object form video

Hello, I'm new here and i have some question for you.

Curently we are working on a student project about Basball.

We have an experiment were we trough a ball aginst a wall wile shooting at it.

We want to extract the horizontal speed before and after the impact.

So the question is :

      -> can Image J deal with vidéo?
      -> can we make a macro to extract speed (by clicking on the object farm per farm)?
      -> Is there any plugins or macro already writen which could be usefull for that?
