Extracting text from Image

Carlos Scheidecker Antunes
Hello all,

Is there any way to extract only text from an image à la OCR?
Say that I have a parts image of a Chevy that has text in form of
description and SKU,
I would like to scan for text and extract it. Is it possible?
Or is there any other library OCR tool that you might suggest?
Preferably in Java.

Thanks,
C.F.

Hi,

Your question:

Yes, unfortunately commercial, try http://www.readiris.com

Or is there any other library OCR tool that you might suggest?

If the text is a type font ie Univers, Times, etc search shareware under
OCR,
2/3 commercial, but cheaper.

Preferably in Java.

Don't know.

Readiris is by FAR the best, they probably still have a 30 day demo.
