Hi everyone,
The Fiji distribution of ImageJ ships the most recent stable release of Bio-Formats in order to provide support for over a hundred life sciences image file formats. Currently, Fiji ships with version 4.4.10 of Bio-Formats. If a newer version is needed (e.g., for a critical bug-fix or newly added file format), it is possible to update to the latest development version of 4.4.x, or the latest development version of 5.x, by enabling the "Bio-Formats 4" or "Bio-Formats 5" update sites, respectively. ( http://fiji.sc/Bio-Formats#Daily_builds). Earlier this week, the OME team released version 5.0.0 of the Bio-Formats library. Within the next few days, I will update Fiji to use this new version of Bio-Formats. - The "Bio-Formats 4" update site will become obsolete. It will not be possible to "downgrade" back to a 4.4.x version of Bio-Formats after this point. - The "Bio-Formats 5" update site will become the sole Bio-Formats update site for following newer unstable development versions of Bio-Formats. (For those interested: it will track the "dev_5_0" branch for the time being.) Please let me know if you have any issues or concerns regarding this change. Hi Curtis,
After Fiji is updated to use version 5, is the long term plan to have the Fiji updater default to the stable build or to daily builds? Hi everyone,

Fiji now ships with Bio-Formats 5.0.0. The two Bio-Formats update sites have been consolidated to one. If you were tracking either one, they will both upgrade you to the latest Bio-Formats 5 development build now. Please let us know if you have any trouble updating your Fiji! The plan is for Fiji to continue shipping with stable release versions of Bio-Formats by default. And by enabling the Bio-Formats update site, you can further upgrade to development builds. Right now these are pushed daily, but long-term I want to push them right away each time changes are made.
