Help calculating "redness"

emjohnson13
I am currently involved in a project in which I am supposed to find a way to calculate and compare the "redness" of male ornate box turtles during mating season. However, I am new to using ImageJ and have not found a good way to obectify "redness", although I am certain it is possible. My advisor for the project advised using CIElab color space.

I have downloaded several plugins, such as Color Counter, Color Transformer, and RGBtoLab, but have not yet gotten any good leads.

Any sort of help, even a point in the right direction, would be much appriciated! Thanks.

Never mind, figured it out. The Color Transformer plugin to Lab, then to the "a" image, then sectioning off the areas of reddness, and creating a histogram to get a mean a value. Easier than I thought!
