Hi Michael
We regularly use HU from DICOM images in ImageJ. Provided the
calibration table is properly set, pixel values will be reported as HU
(raw values in parentheses) in the status bar , e.g. -1000 (0), 0
(1000). This is done without changing the actual pixel values; there is
just a calibration function that does the conversion live. It's possible
your calibration table is not being set properly, which may be due to
lack of support for your particular DICOM headers. You can also try
Analyze > Calibration, but this is probably overkill when you know what
your grey->HU conversion should be.
