How to find equidistant points on the tongue contour

Hello everyone,

I am very new to image processing and trying to find 10 equidistant points
on the tongue contour in an MRI image. Can somebody explain to me how to
find these points? Also is it enough if I use a segmented line to draw the
contour? Or is there a better way to draw tongue contour and set these
pionts?
