How to open raw files with ImageJ/Scifio

Johannes Liesche
Hello.

With Scifio enabled, I can use File>Open to open a Canon .cr2 raw image. Great.

When I try to open the same file by right click>open with..>ImageJ-win64.exe, I get “ImageJ cannot open TIFF files compressed in this fashion”.

It seems like Scifio is not used in this case as it is the same error that showed up before Scifio was implemented in ImageJ.

Is there a solution for this?
It would make file export to ImageJ from my camera control software much easier.

With best regards

Johannes

Hi Johannes,

Thanks for using SCIFIO and bringing this issue up. I opened a new issue to
track this problem[1]. I expect the solution will require further
development in the compatibility layer between ImageJ and SCIFIO.

For the short term, opening images by drag and drop does use SCIFIO - so
that could potentially make life a little easier than repeated File>Open
calls.
