How to protect the garden from snakes in summer?

ron4543

Friends, tell me, how do you deal with snakes in the summer? I have a garden near the pond, and with the coming of heat there is always something moving in the grass. I think it’s snakes. With children and dogs it becomes scary to go out there. I do not want to use strong chemicals, so as not to harm the plants. Maybe there are plants or oils that they don’t like? Or some barriers to keep them from filling? I would be grateful for advice, especially if someone has personal experience of fighting without harm to nature.

Yes, snakes like to settle near water bodies, especially when it’s hot. I was helped by an article about what repels snakes. There are detailed natural plants that they do not tolerate - rosehip, lavender, rosemary and garlic. You can also use cinnamon and cedar oils - just mix them with water and spray around the garden. The main thing is to keep the area dry and clean. If possible, put a small net around the plot so they can’t get in. I have this method worked well, and no snakes have been seen for two years.

We also have a pond, and before snakes appeared every summer. After I started to plant aromatic herbs and regularly cut the plants from the water, the situation improved. I believe that natural resources are the best option, because they do not harm the ecosystem. Barrier of fine mesh is a great solution, especially if there are children in the house.
