How to spot particles of a certain size in an image

6thSense
Hi guys,

For example, if I take a picture using a powerful microscopic camera of nothing but a flat layer of sugar grains (of varying sizes). Say that the image only shows the grains (all of which are the same color - white) and nothing else.. not even the table it is laid on. What do I need to do in the ImageJ program so that only grains of, say, between areas 50 and 100 are shown and outlined and none that are outside that range?

Sounds simple enough but I have no clue which buttons to click, which settings to set and so forth before analyzing the particles to achieve this. I would greatly appreciate any help here.

Thanks in advance,
