Image file naming

White, Stuart
I have noticed that in Fiji, but not ImageJ, each time I open the same image a counter is added at the end of the file name. For instance, "sample.tif" becomes "sample.tif-4" the fourth time I open it. Is there some way to turn this feature off?

this is not a feature but most likely the bug listed below, that is
being worked on as Curtis said in another thread yesterday:

Thanks Niko.  I have also noticed leftover items on the window menu after closing all windows as mentioned in the link you sent.  I'll be patient.
