ImageJ Open-Samples / Update Problem

Hello list,

for some reason all my ImageJ installations (Win7, IJ 1.50h) refuse to open any of the sample images ("Error loading image"). Also, "Udate ImageJ" fails by throwing the following message: "The 'News' page on the ImageJ website is not in the expected format or was not found."

Did anyone else observe this behavior and how could it possibly be fixed?

You can avoid these errors by upgrading to the latest version of ImageJ (1.51a). Versions older than 1.50i download sample images and ImageJ updates from the ImageJ website, which now enforces HTTPS encryption incompatible with Java. ImageJ 1.50i and later download sample images and updates from wsr.imagej.net. You can upgrade older versions of ImageJ using the ImageJ Updater plugin at
