Did you have a look at bio7 (
http://bio7.org/)? Although it is more an ecological package it "offers an easy to use interface to R and ImageJ and can use these tools to simplify a workflow to analyze image data"

Dear List,
I was wondering if anyone has any experience of running ImageJ in R? Currently I am doing my image analysis in ImageJ, then exporting the data to R for the stats.
If I want to look at specific images I have to go back to ImageJ. Recetly I came across RImageJ, which allows me to view images without switching back - giving the best of both worlds. However, I am struggling to find commands that work, specifically how to create a new blank image.
All I have found so far is open, make the background of an image black, and zoom in! Any help or pointers would be appreciated.
