ImageJ on a Windows 8 tablet

Jon Harman-3
Hi,

I though I would post my experiences and see if others have any comments.

I have tested it on a couple of tablets, 10" ASUS T100T and 8" Dell
Venue 8 Pro.

The good news is that ImageJ is useable. Pinch to zoom works.
I have run into a few problems when using a touchscreen on these tiny
devices.
1.  Increasing the menu font size helps, but it would be nice if the
ImageJ window could be increased in size, say have a multiplier that
scaled the size.
2.  Sliders don't work well.
3.  JFileChooser is broken for touch (but not for a track pad or mouse).
You cannot use a double click to enter a directory.  This is not fatal
when choosing a file since the open button will enter a selected
directory.  Using it to select a directory is broken.  It is simply
impossible to enter a chosen directory to see directories inside.  The
fix is a free program called TouchMousePointer which simulates a track
pad interface.

I make a plugin used by archaeologists to enhance rock art images.
There have been requests for a version on iOS so they can use it on
their iPads.  This doesn't seem an easy take to me.  It would be very
hard to duplicate the fantastic selection of imaging tools available in
ImageJ.  So these windows tablets give me an alternative to suggest.
The ImageJ alternative probably blows away any imaging program available
on iOS.

Jon
