Hi, I hope someone out there will recognize this silly problem I am having,
and know the solution! I have a new computer (WinXP), so downloaded ImageJ from the website and copied all my macros over from my old computer (also WinXP) that I had added previously. But now the dialog boxes look different and are harder to navigate through: no scroll for the mouse, and when I select multiple files with CTRL, it returns to the top of the list after each selection and I have to again scroll down to add the next file. This is annoying, but I could live with it, if any of my macros or plugins actually worked! When selecting files for the 'batch RGB merge' plugin, for example, all my folders appear empty, even though they are full of tif files. And I can install a macro, but when I try run it, it tells me the macro file can't be found. Aahh! I can run the batch convert to make 8-bit tifs from 12-bit, but I can't make overlays, or change to a defined LUT with the macro that worked fine on the other computer. What has happened? Any suggestions are gratefully appreciated! Many thanks, Joanne |
What version of ImageJ were you using and what version did you upgrade
to? Are you using JFileChooser (Edit>Options>Input/Output) to open files? Are you using Java 1.5? JFileChooser works a lot better in Java 1.5. Note that you can also open multiple files by dragging and dropping them on the "ImageJ" window or on the ImageJ icon. -wayne On Jun 12, 2006, at 6:04 AM, Joanne Whitehead wrote: > Hi, I hope someone out there will recognize this silly problem I > am having, and know the solution! > > I have a new computer (WinXP), so downloaded ImageJ from the > website and copied all my macros over from my old computer > (also WinXP) that I had added previously. Hi, yes I have Jfilechooser activated. I have just checked the versions:
old computer: 1.37h, java 1.5.0_06 new computer: 1.36b, java 1.3.1_13 I installed from the website last week - I wonder why this is an older version? I have already taken java updates, but this gave me Java Runtime Environment Version 5.0 Update 7 - maybe this is not what I needed. Sorry for elementary questions, and thanks for your help! Joanne |
The ImageJ 1.36b package for Windows is available in three versions:
1. Bundled with Java 1.3.1_13 (6 MB) 2. Bundled with Java 1.5.0_06 (20 MB) 3. Without Java (1.6 MB) You can update to the latest prerelease version (1.37h) by downloading the ij.jar file from <http://rsb.info.nih.gov/ij/notes.html> into the ImageJ folder. The 1.6 MB package uses the latest version of Java installed on you system. For Plugins>Compile and Run to work, this must be the Java Development Kit (JDK), not the Java Runtime Environment (JRE). The easiest way to "install" ImageJ on a new computer is to copy the ImageJ folder from the old computer to the new one, but this requires that you have a jre (Java runtime) folder inside the ImageJ folder. Okay, I'm making progress. The bundled version with java brought my
usual open file dialog boxes back. I still can't seem to make overlays with batch_rgb_merge - I get a 'file incorrect format or not found' error. But I will try again tomorrow, it's getting late.
