JTwain image collection problems

Heeschen, Bill (WA)
ImageJ folks:
I am struggling to get JTwain to work for collecting images.  I have purchased the commercial license and followed the instructions from Asprise as well as the instructions from Wayne on the JTwain plugin page.  I've also exchanged several e-mails with the Asprise support guy.

If you think you can help, please read on...

Here's the situation:
I can get the plugin to work properly for a few times, then it concludes that I don't have a valid license.  (This ends up killing the entire ImageJ app, but that is beyond the scope of this note.)  Sometimes, it will work zero times.  Usually it will work two or three times.  My record is nine successful calls, but then it died on the tenth call.

The biggest unknown - in my mind - is whether or not I am getting the JTwainLicense.class file into the classpath correctly.  I have added it in various ways to the -cp part of the third line in the ImageJ.cfg file without any consistent response of the JTwain interface.  I'm pretty sure that I have used legitimate path designators in the -cp list (I've tried several options).  I've also added it to the ij.jar file so that I only have one entry in the -cp.

Any thoughts?

Bill:

My thoughts are: if it works, but not always, and you've done all it had to be
done according to the vendor, then the vendor is at fault. So your only
options are to 1) forget it, or 2) you may decompile the JTwainLicense.class,
see what it is doing, and patch your program with that required
functionality, as a way to get something done with the money you spent.

Legal issues should not concern you at all as long as you keep the patched
copy to yourself.
