Greetings,
our research group has developed a free JPEG2000-based image viewing
software package for whole slide microscopic images. The package
consists of a viewer, server, and compression application. It is
developed with C++ and targeted for Windows platforms.
As we see ImageJ as a superior image analysis software on the market, we
wanted to include a functional link with it from our viewing application
(called JVSview). The user of JVSview navigates to a desired position
within the image and clicks a shortcut key, which opens the current view
in ImageJ, which in turn performs some automatic processing/analyzation.
The automatic processing can be specified in the JVSview options as a
set of macro parameters, which are performed when the view is opened in
ImageJ. The parameters follow the regular ImageJ macro language syntax
and can thus be used to, for instance, call an external plugin or
another macro. The software package works with all recent ImageJ
versions (1.3x->).
In case you are interested in the software, we have just released a new
version of JVSview, which can be obtained (along with the rest of the
package) from our project's website:
http://jvsmicroscope.uta.fi/. The
package is freely availabe and usable for non-commercial purposes. A
journal article is also presented
(
http://www.springerlink.com/content/464832481707p514/).
In addition, you might also want to check out the new version of our
LargeMontage ImageJ plugin
(
http://www.iki.fi/vtuo/software/largemontage/), which can stitch
numerous image tiles into a very large image mosaic (such as a whole
slide microscopic images).
Best regards,
