Low contrast image analyses, with corrected email

Jorge A. Santiago-Blay
Hello ImageJ users:

A colleague of mine and I are analyzing fossil leaf images with damage
markings. The images themselves have low contrast and enhancing contrast
followed by thresholding is not helping much.

The next idea we have is to click on a well defined damaged area and tell
ImageJ to expand the pixels from the clicked point until it "sees" a
boundary. Is there a way to do that? In other words, what we are trying
*not* to do, is to manually tell ImageJ what areas to calculate as it will
take a long time.

If you have a constructive suggestion, please kindly email me directly,

Gratefully,

Jorge

Re: Low contrast image analyses, with corrected email

Robert Smith
Hello Doctor,
Without meaning to sound crass, but I doubt anyone can give constructive suggestions without having an image to go by.
It would be preferable to have 2 examples, one the raw image and one with references as to what you want to determine like leaf, damage, anything else which may be pertainent  to your investigation. Also a PNG or Tiff image format would be best.
With that I am sure you will get many suggestions, and 1000 heads are better than 2 wouldn’t you say?
Bob

Re: Low contrast image analyses, with corrected email

Alan Hewat-2
I agree with Bob about the need for an example image. But there are other
concerns about this post. I received it twice, it links to several
documents that promote the author's publishing company, and the author
requests direct email replies, which is contrary to the interests of a
discussion group.

Regards Alan
