A problem with a simple red to blue LUT could be that it is not very
bright and has very little contrast. You could try a 3 steps gradient
with red(0)-white(128)-blue(255).
You can do this with the LUT Panel plugin or with the builtin lut
editor that you can call with :
Image/Color/Edit LUT...
