Hello everyone,
I'm very new to image J and am looking for a novel way to analyze scar tracings. Basically, what I'm looking for is an ability to find the maximum length (Feret Diameter) as well as the maximum width perpendicular to the Feret Diameter Line.
I have found the particles8 plugin as well as the macro drawferet&breadth. The problem I'm having with this macro is that it draws the breadth, but not co-linearly. Essentially, the tool gives the breadth as two independent projections perpendicularly out of the Feret Diameter such that the sum of those two projections would be equivalent to the width of a minimum bounding box for the image... Instead, I'm looking for a way to measure the maximum breadth for a co-linear pair of projections perpendicular to the Feret Diameter.
It's difficult for me to explain, so I'm adding 2 images. They're not perfect examples, they're just meant to illustrate what I'm looking for.
The first image is produced using the feretdiameter&breadth macro. The second image just has a yellow line drawn over the first image. The yellow line roughly depicts what I am trying to measure.
Does anyone know of any way to do this?
Thanks,
Peter
