I'm trying to measure the cross-sectional area of skeletal myofibers imaged in cross-section.
In photoshop you can use a "magnetic lasso" tool that 'snaps' to the outline of a cell and calculates the total area within the user-defined area. However I prefer the speed and ease-of-use that the ImageJ program affords and would like to do all my other calculations (cell count, etc) within ImageJ along with the cross-sectional area calculations. Is there a similar plug-in tool by which one can measure the area of a cell, even if it doesn't have the "magnetic" component and instead requires me to carefully trace the cell outline? I've been searching the internet for days now and cannot find a plug-in that seems to do what I need.
Thanks for any help
