"New Image" 16/32-bit created with "inverting LUT"

Dear experts,

can someone imagine why 16/32-bit images created by "New Image" show
an inverted LUT and 8-bit images do not?

(ImageJ 1.43f; Appearance-Options: "Use inverted LUT" _unchecked_)

Any hints are highly appreciated

Choose the fill with "Black" option in the File>New>Image dialog box
and 16/32-bit images will not have an inverting LUT.

Thanks Wayne!

Of course that works and I understand that white at least for 32-bit
images needs to be defined -- what about 1? Indeed 1 results from
inverting a black 32-bit image...

It is mainly the inconsistency (8- versus 16/32-bit) and not that I
can't circumvent it.
