Hello,
I'm very appreciative of the new ImageJ launcher, as file associativity
(double clicking to open images, or Open With->) has been something I've
wanted for a while. However, this feature has not been working for me
under Windows XP Pro SP2, both JRE 1.5 and 1.3.
I've installed the new launcher two different ways, both by simply copying
the new ImageJ.exe file over my existing installation, as well as
uninstalling and reinstalling ImageJ using the new 1.35p which comes with
the new launcher. Both ways fail.
When I either double click an image (one with a special extension that
isn't associated with any program) or right click an bmp, jpg, etc. and try
"Open With->", I go to browse to select the ImageJ.exe executable. Once I
select it, Windows drops me back to the "Open With" dialog.
But, ImageJ doesn't appear as an option like it should.
What does appear (already there, even before browsing) is "Java(TM) 2
Platform Standard Edition binary". This only appears for files with
extensions such as bmp, jpg, tif, as well as ones that I had previously
tried to open in older versions of ImageJ.exe (before I knew associativity
didn't work).
If I do select the "Java...binary" then I get the error "Invalid or
corrupt jarfile image.bmp". It appears java is trying to directly execute
the image file, which of course fails.
Any idea what might be the problem? I've tried uninstalling and
reinstalling many times. Thank you
