OME-XML Major Version Release

Jason Swedlow
Hello,

The Open Microscopy Environment is pleased to announce a major update to the
OME-XML schema files. These files provide the authoritative description of
the OME Data Model.  We're writing to list list as many of you use the OME
Data Model as implemented in Bio-Formats.

This June 2010 release is a major (breaking) version that is NOT backwardly
compatible with files created for the April 2010 release.

As this is a major release it makes use of a new namespace:

Full details of the changes made can be found at
http://www.ome-xml.org/milestone/June-2010-Schema-Release

Key changes made with this release include:
- Release brought in step with release of OMERO 4.2
- Introduction of more restrictive integer type.
- Fixing issue with Well Sample Timepoint. NOTE: timepoints were not being
filled out by any formats and so any values filled by 3rd parties will be
lost in the upgrade.
- Adding Width and Height to ROI Mask.
- Reworking annotations to add new types (Term and Tag) and allow
cross-linking all annotations.

An XSLT transform from April 2010 to June 2010 is available here:
http://www.ome-xml.org/browser/Xslt/

Sample OME-XML and OME-TIFF files are available here:
http://www.ome-xml.org/browser/Documentation/Samples/OmeFiles/2010-06/

Thank you to everyone who provided input on these changes. We welcome your
suggestions for further improvements.
Comments can be emailed to us or added as tickets at:

Cheers,

Jason
