OT: FireWire video capture software for Windows

Josh Doe-2
This is off-topic, but I thought some of you might know this.

I have a FireWire IEEE 1394 camera that came with very poor software
for acquring images and video. What I'd like is some open-source
solution that will allow me to customize the interface to make
capturing very easy.

I found the CMU 1394 driver [ http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~iwan/1394/ ] and
found that it works perfectly with my camera. However, what I now need
to do is have a way of displaying and capturing the video. I'd rather
not write my own software, since I've never done video and am not sure
of how to properly buffer, display, and capture the video.

Anyone have experience with this? Thanks!

problem with numeric dialog fields on the Mac OS X

Robert Dougherty
Wayne et at,

Using OS X and ImageJ vers. 1.38i (and at least a few previous versions),
there is interesting feature of numeric dialog boxes.  It appears both in
plugins and in ImageJ's built-in dialogs.  Sometimes it is not possible to
change the number in upper box in the dialog.  If the dialog has more than
one numeric field, then making an entry in a lower box seems to free up the
top box so that it works.  If the dialog has only one box (e.g.,
Process/Math/Multiply...), then we are stuck with the default value.  This
does not happen every time.  After restarting ImageJ, the problem may hold
off for a few operations and then begin.  After it begins, it does not stop
until ImageJ is re-restarted.

Re: problem with numeric dialog fields on the Mac OS X (partial solution)

Elena Kardash
Hi guys,

I also have the same problem with the numeric dialog boxes on OS X,
and the same "freezing" behavior is often happening with shortcuts.
They would not respond. Actually one would not need to restart the
whole program, in my hands  closing and opening the dialog itself
usually helps, or refreshing by touching the mouse at the desktop and
back to ImageJ.

Greetings,
Elena
