Hi Aluri,

Once you press Ctrl-D the text is merged with the image. It is no longer text, it just overwrites the image data.
You can use the eraser tool or other tool to draw another contrasting color over the text to erase it. Then you can apply new text.
But the image data behind the text is gone and cannot be recovered from that image.

Aluri,

You can use TrakEM2 to have floating text like you would in photoshop:

- TrakEM2 -> New Project (blank)
- drag and drop an image into the black canvas
- select the text tool and click on the image; fill in words in the text
window that opens. Close it to finish. The first word or first ten chars
are kept visible in the canvas.
- use the black arrow to move the text around.
- if the text is deselected it will become linked to that particular
position in the image. To unlink (to move/rotate/scale it again), just
select it, then right-click and "unlink".
- right-click and select Project -> Save to save an XML metafile that
contains the text and the file path to your image.
- to make a permanent 'flat' image, draw a rectangular ROI and then
right-click and select Display -> make flat image. Be sure to chose RGB
type if you want to preserve colors.

In a word, no. Your image and the text are just a bitmap.

Sorry, Phil
