Plugin "Image_Stabilizer" gives java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError

Laure Twyffels
Hi everyone,

I am a FIJI user and I would like to use the Image_Stabilizer plugin to
correct the stage drift during a movie. However, I get the following error
message:

(Fiji Is Just) ImageJ 2.0.0-rc-15/1.49i; Java 1.6.0_24 [64-bit]; Windows 7
6.1; 28MB of 2989MB (<1%)

java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError: Image_Stabilizer : Unsupported
major.minor version 51.0

This plugin requires Java 1.7 or later.

I have version 8, update25 of Java on my PC, but I see that a 1.6.0_24
version is mentioned in the error message above. Could you please explain to
me what is wrong? Other plugins work fine.

Thanks a lot for your help.

Laure

A bundled version of Java is used by default, but there is a FAQ entry
explaining how to launch ImageJ/Fiji
<http://imagej.net/Frequently_Asked_Questions#How_do_I_launch_ImageJ_with_a_different_version_of_Java.3F>
with a different version. Can you give that a try and see if it resolves
the issue?

Let us know if you run into any problems.

Best,
Mark

Hi Mark,

Thanks for your reply.  The link to which you refer says

---
How do I launch ImageJ with a different version of Java?
On Windows
Install Java 7, and delete or rename the ImageJ.app\java and/or ImageJ.app\jre folders, if they exist.
---

I work with Windows7, I use FIJI and I have recently installed Java 1.8.0_25-b18 , so I renamed the "java" folder found in "C:Users\MyUserName\fiji-win64\fiji.app" to "old_java". After this, the application ("ImageJ-win64", in the same folder) could not be run.

Can I try something else?

If you make a copy of ImageJ-win64.exe in the same folder named debug.exe,
then run that, you'll see a console pop up with more details of what goes
wrong.
