Problem with 3D Viewer

Joel Sheffield
Hi,

I have recently started to work with a Thinkpad model X1Yoga, and I
installed ImageJ 64 bit --it went into the program files (x86) directory,
but comes up saying that it uses 64 bits.  Generally there is no problem.
However, I can't seem to get the 3D viewer to work.  I downloaded the Java
3D  program, which self installed into the Program Files directory, but
when I try to look at a stack, I get the following.  I've left off the list
of errors, since this seemed to be critical:

ImageJ 1.51k; Java 1.8.0_112 [64-bit]; Windows 10 10.0; 40MB of 640MB (6%)

java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: C:\Program
Files\ImageJ\jre\bin\j3dcore-ogl.dll: Can't load IA 32-bit .dll on a AMD
64-bit platform

Any suggestions?  I would be most grateful.

Joel

Did you try Fiji? Either the newest (Java 8) version, or the 2015 Dec 22
Life-Line version [1]?

Re: Problem with 3D Viewer

Joel Sheffield
Hi Curtis,

I have tried it with Fiji/Java8, and it does seem to work, although it
takes several minutes to initialize.  Once initialized, though, I can
restart it for different images without a problem.  However, if I close
Fiji, I then have to wait for the program to find itself --there is no
comment in the log, though.

Do you mean that Fiji takes several minutes to launch? Or the 3D Viewer
does?

If you mean Fiji itself, then this is a known (but still mysterious) issue;

Re: Problem with 3D Viewer

Joel Sheffield
No, Fiji launches in a reasonable amount of time --5 seconds or so--but the
viewer seems to take several minutes.  The console comes up immediately,
with the following message,

3D [dev] 1.6.0-scijava-2-pre11-daily-experimental daily

and then there is a long delay before the program itself appears.

Hi Joel,

Thanks for the clarification. Unfortunately, I do not know what is going
wrong.

You could try taking a thread dump during the freeze [1], although if the
issue is hardware-related, it might not be very enlightening.

Does ClearVolume [2] also boot up super slowly for you?

Curtis
