We are manipulating an image with ImageJ and saving it in TIFF format, then
the image is not recognized with MS-Windows or other software. We are trying with different bits per pixel or formats. Windows (and the other programs) see the image with 0 (zero) bits per pixel. We have to try with linux... but we need some propietary software that only exists for MS-Windows Any idea? Alberto Perez Medical Physicist Hospital Virgen de la Victoria (Malaga, Spain) |
Hi Alberto,
many simple programs can only read 8-bit and RGB tiffs. Maybe you have you have 16-bit or float images? Then, convert them to 8 bits. Hi Alberto,
I agree with Michael -- try 8-bit. Which Windows programs are you trying to use? Also, have you tried writing the TIFFs using the Bio-Formats Exporter plugin, to see if that makes a difference? -Curtis On Tue, May 5, 2009 at 1:52 PM, Michael Schmid <[hidden email]>wrote: > Hi Alberto, > > many simple programs can only read 8-bit and RGB tiffs. Hi,
IrfanView http://www.irfanview.com/ has no problems reading ImageJ 8 and 16 Bit Tiffs! You should try that. That any other software always reports zero bits/pixel seems strange. Irfanview will even "read" float ImageJ Tiffs, but seems to interpret the data as RGB, so you will get a funny "noisy" and colorful version of your image. It should be no big problem to expand Irfanview to even correctly read the later, I remember it was already asked for in the respective forums, but nobody has yet done it AFAIK, if I had more info and some time, I would happily add via some plugin.
