Hi all-
I am going through the ImageJ guide in a systematic way as a beginner and came across unexpected behavior. If I have multiple selections in the ROI manager and then select More->AND (or OR or XOR), no new ROI with the newly combined ROI appears (let's call it ROI XOR). If I hit update, then the ROI at the top of the list of ROI's I had selected is replaced by the new, combined ROI XOR. But the only way I can get the ROI XOR to appear is by updating it over one of the original ROI's. Further, if I have no ROI selected, the ImageJ manual suggests all the ROI's will be used for the AND/OR/XOR operation, but because I don't then have a specific ROI highlighted, when I click update, nothing happens (understandably, since I haven't highlighted an ROI), which means the new ROI XOR doesn't appear. Is this expected behavior? The way the manual reads, I was expecting the new ROI XOR to appear as a new ROI in the ROI manager, but it doesn't. I'm using Fiji with ImageJ 1.50b, running on Windows (32 bit - my old crappy laptop). Hi Jason,
if you hit the "Add" button or use the keyboard shortcut [t] then you will add a new entry for the combined ROIs (for all three of those boolean functions). This is what you most likely expect to achieve. This is because the update function needs an existing ROI (which then obviously needs to be selected that IJ knows which one you want to update) which can be renewed. The "Add" function adds a new selection to the manager and since your AND, OR, XOR functions create a new selection you need to add it separately. Hope this helps in answering your question.
