I think it will be possible to convert a trace into numbers, once the trace
is a line which you can select cleanly. When thresholded and selected with
the wand tool, you may then save (Save-AS ...) the outline of the line as
X-Y coordinates. This will probably result in the outline of the trace. I.e.
The coordinates all around the line. So some editing will be in order. There
are some other ways to do this in ImageJ. (usually a lot of ways).
Then the data will be available as a text file or an excel file (edit menu/
options/ input-output and select the appropriate file extension.)
One program which can separate peaks and fit peaks etc is IGOR-Pro by
Wavemetrics. A free download of a trail is available from the Wavemetrics
web site. There is a bit of a learning curve, but it is fast capable, and
was originally written to handle data with peaks, which it does very well.
