RGB images

Dear all,

I'd like to analyse only the red channel 16bit image from a 48bit RGB image...

At the moment in ImageJ I can open 48bit RGB image as a stack, but when I try
to save the red component, I can save it in only 8bit image.
Do you know if it is possible to obtain red channel 16bit image? Which is the
trick?
