Hi All,
I'm a new user of ImageJ for my scanning electron microscopy digital
images recorded for the diesel engine soot particles. I'll also be using
TEM for the same but to determine their corresponding fractal
dimensions. According to the literature (especially on the area of
diesel engine soot particles), I found that a common method was used by
almost all of them. They used a common equation to calculate the fractal
dimension:
N = kf*(Rg/dp)^Df
Where dp = primary particle diameter
kf = fractal prefactor
N= No. of primary particles and Rg = its radius of gyration
Df = the fractal dimension (exponent)
You can have a look in the published article [Brasil A. M., Farias T. L.
and Carvalho M. G., "A recipe for image characterization of fractal-like
aggregates". Journal of Aerosol Science, Vol. 30, No. 10, pp. 1379-1389,
1999], which is a typical one among a lot.
Have anybody developed any plugin to be used by ImageJ that can
calculate the 'farctal dimension' or at least the 'radius of gyration'
of particles similar to the published article? Images contain
agglomerated particles that can be composed of hundreds of individual
primary particles. Please note that the agglomerated particle is
normally treated as a single one.
Regards and any help will be highly appreciated
